Founded by Bishop Dr. Shadrach Martin and inspired by his daughter Jurnee Martin, the Jurnee Foundation empowers Glasgow Village through education, housing, mentorship, and financial literacy.

A Legacy of Compassion

What began as a child’s vision to help the unhoused has grown into a foundation impacting hundreds of families each year. Guided by faith and focused on sustainability, the Jurnee Foundation exists to make hope tangible through education, economic mobility, and community renewal.

Foundation Highlights

In 2024, Jurnee Foundation experienced a year of tremendous expansion by securing increased funding for the work of the community for the following years! Though Revenue and other support decreased due to the decrease of the food program revenue, by 79%, Jurnee Foundation focused on submitting for grants and secured additional funding upwards of $1.5M per annum for multiple years.

Currently, Jurnee Foundation has started the Live Community Affordable Housing

program that services the Glasgow Village neighborhood. The Foundation has purchased

homes in the area and offers affordable rent for families. The program also offers

financial education services and access to other community resources to the participants

Youth Empowerment

Delivered Summer Free Food Programs, youth job training, and mentoring/tutoring services to dozens of families.

Adult Advancement

Partnered with the Urban League to launch a mentorship and job placement initiative for adults seeking career growth and stability.

Community Infrastructure

Partnered with Live Church and Heavenly Hearts Learning

Center to sponsor the 7th annual resource fair – Harvest Fest - offering health information services, entertainment for the youth, space for entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses

and a talent showcase of community members.
